After the Instagram rolled out an app last year called Hyperlapse that lets users create image-stabilized, time lapse videos, here comes another companion app.
Instagram announces today the debut of Layout, a free and standalone app that can merges several photos into one. Users can pick up to nine pictures from their gallery and quickly make a collage that can share to Instagram or elsehwere.
Layout also has its "Photo Booth" feature that can snap four shots in quick succession using phone's front-facing camera. The app organizes in to three sections: the recent photos snapped, photos with people's faces in them, and an area with all your shots. It suggests up to 10 collage templates depends on the number of selected photos. It will also let you drag, drop, pinch-to-zoom, and make a sci-fi-like “mirror” effect. If you're using the PhotoGrid app, it's almost like that.
For the meantime, it's only available on iOS but soon an Android version is expected to have it in the next few months.
